Dr. Marie Marklund
Marie Marklund is Associate Professor of Orthodontics at Umeå University, Sweden. She works in collaboration with the Sleep Apnea Clinic at the Department of Respiratory Medicine, Umeå University Hospital. She is the head of the Orthodontic Department. Her practice focuses mainly on the treatment of patients with snoring and obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) with OA.
The research interests of Marie Marklund include treatment effects and side-effects of OA. More recently she has focused on the management of side-effects, the symtomatic and cardiovascular effects from OAT and the long-term outcome. Prediction of effects and side-effects has also been covered in her research. She has lectured extensively over the world and published many articles in the field of OAT for OSA, including bookchapters and a new Task Force.

Dr. Terán received his degree in Medicine from the University of Cantabria in 1981 and his Doctor of Medicine Degree from the University of Valladolid. Presently Dr. Terán is Coordinator of the Sleep Unit of the Pneumology Service of the Assistance Complex in Burgos.
Dr. Terán received more than 30 prizes for investigation. Speaker of multiple national and international conferences. Director of 11 national courses about respiratory sleep disorders, diagnostic and treatment. Member of the Scientific Committee of the Spanish Neumology and Thoracic Surgery Society since 2001.

Dr. Roy Dookun
Dr Roy Dookun graduated from the University of Newcastle Upon Tyne (United Kingdom) in 1979. He now works in private General Dental Practice in Guernsey (Channel Islands) and is part of a multidisciplinary Sleep Disordered Breathing team. Dr Dookun chaired the ‘BSDSM Sleep Working Party’ who developed the BSDSM Pre Treatment Screening Protocol. He lectures regularly to GDPs on the role of oral appliances in the treatment of snoring and OSA and is on the editorial board of the International Journal of Sleep and Breathing. He is a board member of the European Academy of Dental Sleep medicine and the Association of Respiratory Technicians and Physiologists Sleep ApnoeaConsortium. Dr Dookun is a founding member and president of the British Society of Dental Sleep Medicine.

Dr. Aarnoud Hoekema
Aarnoud Hoekema was born on July the 16th, 1977 in Groningen, The Netherlands. In 1996 he started his dental education at the dental faculty of the University of Groningen. After receiving his dental degree in June 2001 (cum laude), he started as a registrar in training to become a clinical researcher at the Groningen University Medical Center. The first three years of this training he combined his work as a dentist at the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery & Maxillofacial Prosthetics with a PhD-project on the therapeutic outcomes of oral-appliance versus continuous positive airway pressure therapy. On March the 14th 2007 Aarnoud Hoekema completed his PhD-degree with a dissertation titled “Oral-Appliance Therapy in Obstructive Sleep Apnea-Hypopnea Syndrome: a Clinical Study on Therapeutic Outcomes”.
In 2004 Aarnoud Hoekema started his oral and maxillofacial residency at the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery of the Groningen University Medical Center. In 2010 he finished his medical degree at the Groningen University Medical Center. In 2011 he was registered as oral & maxillofacial surgeon. Presently he is active as president an founding member of the Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine in The Netherlands. He has published several articles on oral-appliance therapy for obstructive sleep apnea and presented his scientific work at numerous national and international meetings on this topic.

Dr. Joaquín Durán Cantolla
JOAQUIN DURAN CANTOLLA was born in Spain (1956) and obtained his MD degree in Cantabria University, Spain (1980). He trained and become board certified in Pulmonary Medicine by Valdecilla University Hospital and the Ministry of Health (Spain, 1985) and completed his academic Doctorate (PhD) in Medicine in 1991. Between 1999 and 2011 he was head of the Sleep Unit at University Txagorritxu Hospital (Vitoria, Spain) and Professor of Medicine in the Basque Country University (Spain). He is a member of the CIBER of Respiratory Diseases funded by the Spanish Institute Carlos III. He has published 91 papers and is co-author of 21 books, has leaded 35 research projects, and authored 220 abstracts presented at National and International Conferences. He has been invited speaker at 350 scientific conferences and has won 11 research awards. He has been the president of the Spanish Sleep Group of the Spanish Respiratory Society from 2006 to 2009, and regularly serves as a reviewer in several specialty journals and is a senior consultant of sleep disorders. He is participating as Spanish delegate for the European Union in the Project Cost-Action B-26 for research in Sleep apnea and other related European and Canadian projects.
Since May 2011, he is the Scientific Director of the University Hospital of Alava, that includes the two major teaching hospitals in the region. In his position as Director, he is in charge of the coordination of all research performed in both hospitals.

Edward Grandi serves as the Executive Director of the American Sleep Apnea Association. He began his non-profit career as a director of development after 25 years as an insurance executive. Dr. Alejandro Ferré
Alejandro Ferre is a specialist for sleep disorders in adults and in the pediatric field. He is an expert in neurophysiological techniques such as the electroencephalography and the polysomnography among others. These are very necessary tools for a correct diagnosis in the field of sleep apnea and snoring.
He graduated in medicine and surgery in the University of Lleida in 1998 and obtained a specialty in Clinical Neurophysiology at the “Hospital Universitario del Valle Hebron” in 2005. He was formed in the Epilepsy Unit at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation (Ohio, USA) and in the Sleep Disorders Unit at Stanford (California, USA). He worked at the University hospital of Bellvitge as a assistant clinical physician in neurophysiology during the period from 2005 to 2007.
From 2007 and until now he is part of the medical team of the multidisciplinary sleep unit at the University hospital of Vall d'Hebron.
He is currently pursuing a doctorate on "Sleep disorders in patients with Chiari I malformation," and participates in a FIS grant on "Sleep disorders in patients with chronic adult hydrocephalus,"Simultaneously he is working on other research projects such as: disorder idiopathic REM sleep behaviour, breathing disorders in patients with acute hemorrhagic stroke, polysomnography recording system with only two-channel ambulatory EEG recording and a study of exhaled air in patients with obstructive apnea-hypopnea syndrome, among others.

Dr. Delia Linares
She graduated in Dentistry in the University of Sevilla (1998) and did her doctorate "Apto cum laudem" in the same university (2007), with the work titled "mandibular overdentures with osseointegrated implants in the treatment of patients with edentulous mandibula". She is also an expert in Gerodontology (2002), and a university specialist in periodontal and implant treatment (2003), both titles passed in the University of Sevilla.
She is a specialist in Oral Implantology at the University of Santiago de Compostela (2007).
She has been teaching Gerodontology in the Faculty of Dentistry of the University of Sevilla, between 1999 and 2006. She develops an intense research activity that has resulted in wide range of published studies and lectures at meetings and conferences.
She has an extensive additional formation in various techniques and treatments. Among others, "Orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics in the straight wire technique" (2000), with Prof. Jean Flour and Prof. Alejandro Romeo and in the method "Straight Low Friction" (2005), with Dr. David Suárez-Quintanilla, and also in "Orthodontics through the Damon system" (2008).
In addition, between 1995 and 2010, she has assisted more than 40 courses and seminars, always seeking continuous updating of knowledge and treatments.
